Key Takeaways
  • Solis has launched a new 48 V low-voltage hybrid inverter for residential and small-scale C&I consumers

  • This generator-compatible hybrid inverter model can deliver up to 15 kW AC output power

  • The inverter can switch to UPS mode in less than 10 milliseconds and withstand up to 200% overload conditions for 10 seconds

  • It has an improved efficiency level - a battery charge efficiency from PV of 95%, a maximum AC charge efficiency of 94.4%, and a discharge efficiency to AC of 94.5%

Ginlong (Solis) Technologies, a Zhejiang, China-headquartered PV string inverter manufacturer, has unveiled a brand new 3-phase low-voltage hybrid inverter. Eyeing residential and small-scale C&I customers, the company has designed this S6-EH3P(8-15)K02-NV-YD-L series 48 V low-voltage battery hybrid inverter.

Technical features

This hybrid inverter, equipped with 2 MPPT channels, offers 4 different models of AC output power ranging from 8 kW to 15 kW. The highest capacity model- 15 kW, can carry up to 4 number PV input strings in each 40 A MPPT channel, while the rest of the 3 models can have up to 3 strings in both 20 A and 40 A MPPT channels. The company noted that the model has a wide range of MPPT voltage between 200 V and 850 V.

The 48 V Li-ion/ Lead-acid battery’s DC side can handle a charge or discharge current of up to 290 A, allowing it to store additional surplus energy from PV modules, added Solis. The company’s latest model delivers outstanding efficiencies, with a battery charge efficiency from PV of 95%, a maximum AC charge efficiency of 94.4%, and a discharge efficiency to AC of 94.5%. This signifies a substantial difference over some low-voltage systems, which operate at around 75%, it claimed.

The inverter’s generator compatibility, such as a diesel generator (DG), can extend the inverter’s backup duration during a grid outage. According to the company datasheet, this hybrid inverter can switch to backup or UPS mode in less than 10 ms and can deliver up to 22.8 A maximum continuous 3-phase AC to the connected load. Additionally, this inverter can withstand 200% overload capacity for up to 10 seconds after switching to backup mode. Solis has incorporated a unique feature of a dual backup port for intelligent control of critical and non-critical domestic loads in the event of a grid outage. Having a dimension (W x H x D) of 430 x 660 x 305 mm in a non-isolated transformerless topology, the inverter weighs 42 kg.

The company says it has provided the required safety and protection features, including anti-islanding, output overcurrent, short-circuit, DC-reverse polarity, and surge protection, for domestic and small-scale C&I customers.
