The global PV industry is facing multiple headwinds in the form of an oversupply situation and the imposition of tariffs and duties on China-manufactured products as well as a few Southeast Asian countries. Challenges notwithstanding, it has also created some windows of opportunity for some global PV manufacturers looking to gain a foothold in the lucrative US market.

In this context, Suntech, once a market leader, has been sailing through rough waters for quite some time and is now striving to regain its position in the US market share. The company showcased its wide range of products at RE+ 2024, which it expects to produce at its upcoming Indonesian factory. Given it is a market that’s still out of the purview of the US’ non-tariff trade barrier and anti-dumping & countervailing duties (AD/CVD), Suntech expects to offer Indonesia-manufactured products to US customers.

The Global Sales and Marketing President of Suntech, Michael Li, showcased the company’s Ultra X, Ultra X Pro, and Ultra V Pro module series, covering PERC, TOPCon, and other modules.
