Prof. Isabella's Takeaways from HJT Workshop In Italy
At the 7th Silicon Heterojunction International Workshop in Catania, Sicily, Shravan Chunduri from TaiyangNews spoke with Prof. Olindo Isabella of Delft University and conference co-chair about his key takeaways from the first day of the event.
Prof. Isabella: It is impressive to see the sheer development of this technology today. Only a few years ago, we could see the potential of this technology, but now we see major industrial developments. From the very first introductory session until the one today at the end of metallization, we see massive developments in efficiency, and we see studies on field effects on ways to prevent degradation and also lowering metallization costs. We look forward to tomorrow’s sessions to learn about the important developments at an industrial level.
We are very proud to hold this Silicon Heterojunction Workshop in Italy this time. There is a lot of potential for GW-scale production, but also other solar cell developments. It is also a nice springboard for the rest of Europe in terms of pushing for reshoring the PV industry.
Of course, together with all parties involved, not just from Europe, but all around the world, it's important that we have a strong commitment to the PV industry overall.
