Key Takeaways
  • TCL Solar promoted its G12R-66P series double-glass BC module, rated for up to 680 W power and 25.2% efficiency

  • This module, sized at 2,382 × 1,134 × 30 mm, offers higher power density than a TOPCon module of the same size

  • It has a temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C

Thanks to the inherent advantages of back contact (BC) PV modules, such as superior aesthetics, enhanced front-side power generation, a lower temperature coefficient, and improved anti-shading properties vis-à-vis TOPCon counterparts, a growing number of PV module makers are adopting this cell technology route.

One example is TCL Solar, a PV module brand under TCL Group. Leveraging the advantages of TCL Group, TCL Zhonghuan’s silicon wafers, and SunPower’s patented technology, the company showcased its upgraded BC module lineup during SNEC 2025. Rayy Wu, PMT Engineer at TCL Solar, provided a short description of these products  on display to the TaiyangNews team.

BC Modules

G12R-66P

The module, incorporating 132 pieces of G12R size half-cut cells, boasts a power output and an efficiency not exceeding 680 W and 25.2%, says Wu. With dimensions of 2,382 × 1,134 × 30 mm, this product offers higher power density compared to a TOPCon module of the same size, thanks to its gridline-free front-side design that enables greater power gain. It is laminated with 2 mm-thick front and rear glass and weighs 33.5 kg. In addition, this front-side gridline-free design exhibits an aesthetically pleasant appearance. The product has a temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C.

Improving the reliability, its ‘I’ welding strip design makes it less prone to hidden cell cracks than modules using the traditional ‘Z’ welding strip. Due to the BC cell’s low breakdown voltage characteristics, this module supports more than 10% higher shading tolerance compared to its counterpart, according to a LinkedIn post by the company. It is offered with a workmanship warranty of 15 years and a performance warranty of 30 years.

G10LD-54P

Addressing the residential market, the company also promoted its M10-size TBC cell-based G10LD-54P module. Featuring 108 pieces of half-cut cells, this module can deliver up to 480 W of power and 24.1% efficiency. Sized at 1,757 × 1,134 × 30 mm, it is laminated with a 3.2 mm thick front glass and a black backsheet. Weighing 21.5 kg and featuring an integrated black anodized aluminum alloy frame, this aesthetically pleasing front-side gridline-less BC product supports residential PV installations. In addition to the advantages such as high power density and lower risk of microcracks, which are attributed to BC cells’ characteristics, this model is certified to withstand up to 5,400 Pa front and 2,400 Pa rear side mechanical load.

On the product and performance warranty side, this module is offered with a 25-year product workmanship warranty and a 30-year performance warranty.

Lightweight TOPCon Module

In addition to its BC product lineup, the company showcased its TOPCon module series – G12R-48P. This module, with a rated power and efficiency of 460 W and 23%, respectively, features a module layout of 96 pieces of G12R size half-cells. Crafted for low load-bearing roof installations, this module, laminated with 1.1 mm front glass and a PET-based rear backsheet, weighs only 10.8 kg. Featuring dimensions of 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm, the product exhibits a weight per unit area of 5.4 kg/m2. Mitigating any potential risk of module damage stemming from high external mechanical loads, like snow or wind, this lightweight module is certified for up to a load of 3,600 Pa at the front and 2,400 Pa at the rear.

Offered with a product warranty of up to 12 years, this module is guaranteed to deliver at least 89.40% of its rated power after 25 years of field operation.

Apart from the lightweight module, TCL Solar promoted its G12R-66P TOPCon model, suitable for utility-scale applications. This mass-produced module, featuring 132 pieces of G12R half-cells, boasts a power output of up to 675 W and an efficiency of up to 25%.
