As more and more manufacturers expand beyond PERC solar cell technology and adopt TOPCon, German solar module manufacturer Solarwatt has announced its foray. The company will offer TOPCon glass-glass and glass-film panels in its portfolio.
Both the glass-film version of the TOPCon half-cell modules and the glass-glass bifacial half-cell modules will be available in 2 versions each, equipped with a 35 mm aluminum frame. These modules will have a power rating ranging between 420 W and 425 W.
While the manufacturer cites higher power conversion efficiency than PERC as the major reason behind adopting TOPCon technology, it does not specify the efficiency of its new modules or the annual capacity it will manufacture.
The company is offering 30-year product and performance guarantee along with free complete protection all-risk insurance.
"We have significantly increased our guarantee periods for glass film modules. This puts us well above the market standard," said the Solarwatt CTO Dr. Armin Froitzheim.
Solarwatt will be accepting orders for the TOPCon range from the end of October, with deliveries starting from January 2024.
The company inaugurated a new solar module fab with 300 MW installed capacity and 2 new battery energy storage system (BESS) production lines in Germany in 2021 (see 300 MW Module Facility In Germany).
