Key Takeaways
  • Trina Storage showcased its 'end-to-end' integrated turnkey utility storage solution, Elementa 2 Pro, at RE+ 2025

  • Its 'fully wrapped, cell-to-AC' architecture reduces complexity at the system level compared to standard DC blocks

  • Trina Storage Trace provides digital component-level supply chain traceability of this solution

Trina Storage Solutions U.S., a business unit of Trina Solar U.S. and a provider of integrated energy storage solutions, officially introduced its Elementa 2 Pro Platform to the North American utility market at RE+ 2025.

Among this turnkey storage solution’s key features, the company emphasizes reduced complexity at the system level, simplified procurement for developers, and faster commissioning compared to standard utility-scale DC blocks.

It combines the company’s own battery cells, whose technology is validated through integration testing in the US, power conversion systems (PCS), transformers, and energy management systems (EMS) into one streamlined architecture. The company, calling it a 'fully wrapped, cell-to-AC' solution, offers 2 products under the Elementa 2 Pro platform with storage capacities of 10 MWh and 20 MWh, respectively. It offers reduced system-level complexity compared to standard peers that combine a variety of equipment during installation and commissioning. Both solutions are equipped with 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. While the 10 MWh platform stores or delivers continuous backup power at its nominal charge or discharge rate for 2 hours, the 20 MWh higher capacity version supports up to 4 hours.

In addition to technology and performance, Trina Storage’s digital supply chain traceability system, Trina Storage Trace, provides component-level transparency from raw materials to finished products. The company stated that this attribute simplifies developers’ procurement process, aligning with evolving Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance, domestic content, and regulatory requirements.

It added that its 'end-to-end' turnkey architecture enables faster project commissioning.

Regarding operational functions, it is promoted for a variety of grid applications, including renewable energy (RE) integration and grid balancing. It features an ‘intelligent’ liquid-cooling mechanism, which supports an operational temperature range of -22°C to 50°C without derating. On top, its ‘long-life’ battery cells reportedly maintain a State of Health (SOH) rate that is up to 5% higher at the end of 20 years of service. According to the company, it extends project service lifetime beyond the expected 25 years and reduces the cost of potential capacity augmentation.

We are still awaiting the company’s response on the commercialization details of this turnkey solution at the time of publishing.
