Trinasolar’s Latest Products For US At RE+ 2024

Trinasolar, a vertically integrated Chinese PV manufacturer, with production facilities in China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, displayed its latest innovative and US-specific modules at the RE+ 2024 in Anaheim, California, US. The company also expects to start production at its US manufacturing facility in Wilmer, Texas, in Q4 2024 and be fully operational in 2025.

Speaking to TaiyangNews, Brenden Frazier, module product manager at Trinasolar, introduced the company's latest high-power and hail & wind-resistant Vertex N series modules, utility-scale Vertex N 720 W module, and a new prototype module of 2,000 V system voltage at the show.

Hail & Wind-Resistant module

Trinasolar has unveiled its Vertex N NE19RC series monofacial module, featuring high resistance to hailstorms and high wind, a common feature in the US. This module’s high hail resistance characteristics have been validated by 3rd party testing agencies like RETC and Kiwa PVEL. During the testing, this Trinasolar module did not show any defect by striking 55 mm diameter hailstones at a speed of 34 m/s, simulating real-world hail conditions. It did not experience any physical damage for up to 65 mm diameter hailstones at up to 60° impact angle, simulating real-world stowed tracker-based solar module during a hailstorm. The module, equipped with 132 pieces of 210 mm size i-TOPCon half-cells, is rated for a maximum power output of 620 W and an efficiency of up to 23%. This 2,382 x 1,134 x 35 mm size module, laminated with 3.2 mm thick fully-tempered front glass and rear side transparent backsheet, offers a lightweight design that lowers transportation costs and enhances installation efficiency in commercial & industrial (C&I) and utility-scale projects, says Trinasolar.

Utility-scale 700 W+ module

The company also showcased its utility-scale Vertex N NEG21C.20 series bifacial module, which surpassed power wattage above 700 W in mass production, says the company. This module, powered by 132 pieces of 210 mm size half-cells, delivers a power output of up to 720 W and an efficiency of up to 23.2%. This larger variant of the Vertex N series, measuring 2,384 x 1,303 mm, offers a reduced balance of system (BoS) cost in utility-scale projects, added Trinasolar. The company expects to start commercial production of this module by Q1 2025.

The company also unveiled a new prototype module with a 2,000 V system voltage.
