UNICO has introduced a 330 kW bidirectional grid-tie inverter for solar generation, battery storage, and other power applications
The inverter supports AC voltages from 380 to 900 V and a programmable DC voltage range of 600 to 1,500 V
Multiple units can operate in parallel to achieve system power exceeding 3.3 MW, according to the company
US-based UNICO has introduced a 330 kW bidirectional grid-tie inverter (GTI) at The Battery Show 2026 in Detroit. The inverter is designed for solar generation, battery storage, data centers, and other applications that require DC-to-AC power conversion.
The new GTI has a rated efficiency of over 98.5% and a power density of 72 W/in³. UNICO claims its power density is more than three times that of competing products. The air-cooled inverter is designed for rack mounting and has a maximum operating temperature of 50°C. Its power factor is approximately 0.99.
On the DC side, the inverter supports a voltage range of 600 to 1,500 V, with the minimum voltage depending on the AC voltage. It supports AC voltages between 380 and 900 V. The maximum rated output of 330 kW is available at 900 V AC. Rated output varies with AC voltage: 290 kW at 800 V, 250 kW at 690 V, 175 kW at 480 V, and 145 kW at 400 V.
The inverter’s design also allows for parallel operation. A single unit can be used in C&I applications, while several units can be combined for larger storage installations. The company says systems with more than 10 units can exceed 3.3 MW. The same inverter architecture and controls can be retained as capacity increases.
Commenting on the launch, UNICO CEO Michael Canada said, “With the explosion of data centers, increase in alternative power generation, and expansion of battery storage across industries, bidirectional capability at 1,500 VDC is increasingly required but remains underserved at the C&I scale by U.S.-manufactured products.” He added that the new GTI is intended to address this gap in the US inverter market.
