  • Wavelabs introduces 2 new products to ease measuring times in solar production and research
  • SINUS-3000 PRO can conduct a number of tests as a single tool which in the past required 2 or 3 different tools
  • It can be used for high efficiency cell technologies as HJT or TOPCon and can be integrated to characterize bifacial solar panels
  • SNIUS-3000 ADVANCED is to be used by research facilities to explore PST and other high efficiency cells

LED-based solar simulator for solar cells producer from Germany, Wavelabs Solar Metrology Systems GmbH is expanding its portfolio with 2 new products, including an 'all-in-one' solar module flasher for production lines and another for perovskite-silicon tandem (PST) cells for research purposes.

"In the past, solar module producers needed two or three different tools to conduct module power output measurements, bypass diode testing, insulation (hipot) testing, visual inspection (VIS) and electroluminescence measurements," said Project Lead for SINUS-3000 PRO, Gerrit Laube. "Our new system provides all these measurements under one roof while ensuring a high throughput with less than 20 s per module for all measurement steps."

Calling it a powerful module flasher, Wavelabs says Sinus-3000 Pro has an illumination time of up to 500ms and is ready for high-efficiency cell technologies as heterojunction (HJT) or TOPCon. It has also provided a provision to integrate this with an additional rear-side flasher to characterize bifacial solar PV modules.

The other product from Wavelabs is an improvement of the SINUS-3000 series called SINUS-3000 ADVANCED that caters to the research facilities for PST and other high efficiency cells.

Created by the company under a joint project with tandem solar cell start-up Oxford PV and Fraunhofer ISE, Wavelabs says SINUS-3000 ADVANCED can hold up to 45 LED modules with 26 individually controllable LED channels in a basic configuration. It provides researchers flexibility to select spectra, illumination time and light intensity for indoor laboratories.

Fraunhofer ISE has installed this Wavelabs solar simulator at its CalLab PV Modules to accurately measure PST modules (see Solar Simulator For Tandem Modules).

Wavelabs said it will be showcasing these 2 products at the Intersolar in Munich, Germany.

A the recent TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on Solar Cell Production Equipment & Processing Materials 2023, Dr. Sascha Esefelder, Director Product Development of Wavelabs, presented about "High Throughput IV-Classification Of High Efficiency Silicon Solar Cells"  (see recording here).

TaiyangNews will be hosting a Virtual Conference on Global PV System Technology Trends H1/2023 to discuss takeaways from the world's largest solar trade shows SNEC Shanghai and Intersolar Munich on June 27-28, 2023. Register for the event for free here.
