Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH), the electric power utility in Bosnia, is looking for interested bidders to establish a 15 MW solar power plant in Gornja Breza in the Municipality of Breza on an abandoned landfill of Breza Coal Mine.

The external landfill is located on Gornja Breza plateaus 1, 2 and 3 which was previously used for coal mining. Here, on a surface area of around 21 hectares, the utility wants a solar PV facility to be set up on turnkey basis.

EPBiH estimates the total contract value of the Gornja Breza Solar Plant as BAM 22.0 million. Once online, it will serve the renewable electricity generation needs of the utility.

Launched on July 22, 2022, the last date for submission of bids is September 30, 2022. Tender details are available on the website of EPBiH.

Earlier in July 2022, the utility signed concession contracts for Gracanica 1 and 2 solar power plants with 50 MW aggregate capacity on the waste disposal site of Gracanica Coal Mine in Bugojno municipality. As part of its efforts to increase renewable energy generation in its portfolio, EPBiH plans to build PV projects on Breza, Kakanj and Kreka coal mines by 2030.
