  • AEML wants to source 1.5 GW worth of grid connected renewable energy capacity on RTC basis
  • It will be sought as 750 MW and another 750 MW under greenshoe option, complemented with firm power from any other source
  • This will help the utility increase the share of renewable energy in its total power supply to 60% from 30% now

Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML), a power generator under the Adani Group, has invited bids to procure 1.5 GW of grid connected renewable energy power projects, complemented with firm power from any other source in India on round-the-clock (RTC) basis.

Of the 1.5 GW sought, 750 MW will be available as a greenshoe option. Minimum bid capacity is specified as 250 MW. For a single project, minimum project capacity desired is 50 MW and maximum 1.5 GW. Solar modules to be used for such projects must use panels approved under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

The private electricity supplier believes this will increase the share of renewable energy in its total power supply to 60% from 30% now, which is the aim considering coal prices are currently high and the fossil fuel itself in short supply. AEML currently supplies power to around 3 million consumers in Mumbai.

Tender was announced on January 2, 2023 and bids will be accepted till February 1, 2023. Details can be found on AEML's website.
