  • It is planned to be located installed, commissioned and operated in La Valette, Bambous
  • According to the project's EIA report, it will deploy n-type or HJT solar modules with 560W output and 21% or higher efficiency

A government owned property developer in Africa's Mauritius, Landscope (Mauritius) Ltd has invited bids for the development and commissioning of a 10 MW solar power plant in La Valette near the town of Bambous.

According to the project's environmental impact assessment (EIA) report, it will have 14.6 MW D/10 MW AC capacity and is due to come up in a rural area in the district of Black River. While the whole area was formerly use for sugarcane cultivation, some portions of the land are being converted for other uses including residential.

Landscope has proposed to use n-type or heterojunction (HJT) solar modules with a rated capacity of 560W each and a minimum conversion efficiency of at least 21%.

In a brief tender announcement made on April 21, 2023, Landscope says it wants bids to come from eligible and qualified bidders, both domestic as well as international. Broad scope of work is design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and operation of the 10 MW project.

Construction is tentatively planned to begin in August 2023 and commercial operations in June 2024.

Last date to submit bids for the 10 MW project is June 9, 2023. Details of the tender with Procurement Reference No: LM-LV- AP23-199 are available on the company's website.

A year back, Landscope entered an agreement with the Central Electricity Board (CEB) of Mauritius for the development of the 10 MW project. It is expected to generate between 14,973 MWh to 15,696 MWh of clean electricity in the 1st year of its operation.

The country targets 40% renewable energy share in the national electricity mix by 2025, and 60% by 2030. According to Mauritius' Economic Development Board (EDB), the nation wants to add 200 MW renewables capacity by 2025 and 435 MW by 2030, up from 271 MW the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) counts to have been installed till 2022-end. Solar PV's share was 110 MW.
