Agrivoltaic Tender Launched In India

  • AGCL has issued a call to select consultants for an agrivoltaic project in Assam
  • The project is planned for Sadiya town in Tinsukia district, under the Chapakhowa Revenue Circle
  • Selected consultant will need to prepare pre-feasibility and detailed project reports

Assam state-owned natural gas supplier to domestic and commercial consumers, Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) plans to explore agrivoltaic technology with a project for which it is now seeking a consultant to prepare a pre-feasibility report (PFR) and detailed project report (DPR).

The project of unidentified capacity is proposed to be located in the Sadiya town in Assam’s Tinsukia district, under the Chapakhowa Revenue Circle.

Broad scope of work includes recommending a size of the solar power project basis the irradiation level, available vacant land, and prospect of energy storage in battery bank. Project cost, capital cost, levelized and variable cost of generation will need to be included in the brief financial analysis.

Bidder will suggest the agricultural aspects of the project including the type of cultivation, comparison study, demand, profitability, sustainable execution of the project with the involvement of local farmers, assistance to the farmers, and the like.

Selected consultant will also be tasked with carrying out a detailed study on the agricultural aspects as part of the project, and recommend the best feasible option on agricultural aspects along with financial analysis in the DPR.

Tender was launched on June 27, 2023. Bids from interested consultants will be admitted till July 17, 2023. Details will be available on AGCL’s website.

Earlier this year in March 2023, the Assam government gave a green signal to 7 green energy projects with a combined 620 MW solar capacity to come up in the state. A mix of various PV applications, it includes 3 agrivoltaic facilities, namely 100 MW Tezpur Agrivoltaic Project, 50 MW Lower Kopili Agrivoltaic Project, and 100 MW Batadrava Agrivoltaic Project, according to local media reports.
