The Government of Gibraltar has launched a competitive solicitation process to seek bidders for a solar power plant to be installed on the southeastern side of the Gibraltar International Airport.  

The tender calls for interested bidders to design, install, operate and maintain a solar PV installation. Remuneration would be via the sale of power generated by these panels through a power purchase agreement with the Gibraltar Electricity Authority, according to the tender documents. 

As per the announcement, the most economically advantageous offer will stand to win. The contract is set to start on December 1, 2024, and end on November 30, 2044.  

The Government of United Kingdom (UK) said the value of the contract is £5,000,000. Gibraltar is an overseas territory of Britain.   

The call was launched on August 14, 2024, and the last date to submit complete applications is September 20, 2024.
