Indian Ministry of Coal operated Coal India Limited (CIL) is looking for EPC contractors to construct and commission 810 MW AC solar PV capacity in Rajasthan, and also 35 MW AC capacity in West Bengal, under 2 separate tenders launched in February 2023.

For 810 MW AC tender call issued on February 3, 2023 with tender ID 2023_CILHQ_269887_1, bids will be accepted till February 13, 2023. Responses received will lead to the selection process for EPC-cum-operators for the project.

Broad scope of work includes design, engineering, supply and procurement, construction, erection, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the 810 MW AC grid connected project. It will be located in Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited’s (RUVNL) solar park in Bikaner district’s Ramsar Chhita, Banderewala and Barala villages.

Minimum capacity proposed to be built by prospective bidders is 200 MW AC and maximum can cover entire 810 MW AC on offer.

For the 35 MW AC tender seeking EPC-cum-O&M contractor for the entire EPC work launched on February 1, 2023, the last date to submit bids is February 22, 2023. Details will be available on the e-procurement portal with tender ID 2023_CILHQ_269452_1.

This 47.25 MW DC/35 MW AC capacity needs to be built as 10 MW Kalidaspur Solar PV Plant in Satgram area, and as 12.5 MW project at Amritnagar & 12.5 MW locations at Mahabir Colliery in Kunustoria in West Bengal for CIL subsidiary Eastern Coalfields Limited’s (ECL) captive consumption.

For this, project management services (PMC) are provided by another CIL subsidiary CIL Navikarniya Urja Limited (CNUL).

Solar modules to be used for both these tenders need to be sourced from companies listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).

Recently, Indian President Droupadi Murmu virtually laid the foundation stone of Indian hydropower utility SJVN Limited’s 1 GW Bikaner solar power project in village Banderwala (see SJVN Starts Work On 1 GW Solar Project In India).
