  • SJVN has launched a tender to establish 15 MW AC floating solar PV capacity
  • It will be located at Nangal pond near Neilla village in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district
  • BPCL also wants 6.9 MW AC floating PV capacity installed at its Kochi Refinery

A wholly owned subsidiary of hydropower utility SJVN Limited, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) is looking for EPC service providers for a 15 MW AC floating solar PV plant, while another state-owned entity Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) wants consultant for 6.9 MW AC floating PV capacity.

15 MW AC floating solar plant

SGEL wants to set up the 15 MW AC floating solar power plant at Nangal pond near Neilla village in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district. Broad scope of work spans design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning the facility on turnkey, along with 3-year comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M).

Interested bidders should have designed and commissioned at least 4 MW or higher floating solar capacity out of which at least 1 plant should have been of 2 MW or higher capacity and in successful operation for at least 3 months.

Solar modules to be used will need to be sourced from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

Last date to submit bids is November 22, 2022. Further details are available on SJVN's website.

As it aims to grow the company's renewable energy portfolio to 5 GW by 2023 and 25 GW by 2030, SJVN is seriously exploring floating solar technology. Recently, it announced development of 1 GW floating PV in Assam and also secured rights to develop a 105 MW project in Maharashtra (see India PV News Snippets).

6.9 MW AC floating PV capacity

BPCL has launched a solicitation process to secure consultancy services to set up 6.9 AC MW floating PV capacity in Kerala. The project management consultancy (PMC) contract will be awarded for this capacity set up on the rainwater harvesting pond and shore tank farm (STF) at Kochi Refinery.

Spread across 18 acres inside Kochi refinery, the rainwater harvesting pond will host a floating solar plant of 4.6 MW DC/3.2 MW AC capacity. Power generated will be evacuated through internal electrical grid of the refinery for internal consumption. It will not be exported to external grid of Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).

Remaining capacity of 5.2 MW DC/3.7 MW AC inside the STF will generate power to be used internally using the banking facility of KSEB.

Selected consultant will be required to conduct a competitive selection process for this capacity. Tender was launched on November 1, 2022 and last date to submit documents is November 22, 2022. Details will be available with BPCL for the tender with Job Reference No.: CRFQ : 1000395050 (CPO.KR.SP.19.13.22231).
