Key Takeaways
  • Germany’s Federal Network Agency or Bundesnetzagentur has opened 296.3 MW rooftop solar tender

  • EU state aid approval could significantly alter the tender’s scope, it adds

  • Bids for this tender round can be submitted to the agency by October 1, 2026

Germany’s Federal Network Agency or Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) has opened the second-segment solar tender for 2026 for installations on the rooftop and noise barriers.

The current tender volume is 296.269 MW, with a maximum bid value of €0.10/kWh. However, the final scope of the auction could change if the European Commission grants state aid approval for amendments introduced under Germany’s Solar Package I, it points out.

The tender covers solar power plants in Germany with an installed capacity of more than 1,000 kW. Projects must be located on, attached to, or in a building or noise barrier. Bidders are required to identify the project location in their bids. Relocating the project is not permitted. An individual bid cannot exceed 20 MW.

Bidders must provide a project security contribution of €35/kW. For example, a 10 MW bid would require a €350,000 security contribution.

Bids for this tender launched on August 26, 2026 will be accepted till October 1, 2026. Details are available on the agency’s website.

The agency generally holds three second-segment solar tenders each year, with deadlines on February 1, June 1 and October 1.

It previously launched a 296.3 MW solar tender for this category in April 2026 with June 1, 2026 as the deadline (see Germany Opens 296 MW Rooftop Solar Tender Round).
