Germany's Federal Network Agency or Bundesnetzagentur has opened a new rooftop solar PV tender, inviting proposals for over 258 MW capacity to be installed for buildings and noise barriers.

The agency specifies that the tender tariffs are capped at €0.105 ($0.11)/kWh. It will admit projects with an installed capacity of at least 1 MW for the tender round that has a total volume of 258.058 MW capacity.

For the year 2024, Bundesnetzagentur targets to award a total volume of 900 MW for the rooftop solar segment, to be divided equally between 3 annual bidding dates. The 1st round of rooftop solar auction was concluded in March 2024 when the agency awarded 264 MW capacity.

The agency announced the tender on April 25, 2024. The last date to submit bids is June 1, 2024, which is a Sunday, hence bids will be accepted till June 3, 2024. Tender details are available on the agency's website.

Meanwhile, the German government has secured approval to for its Solar Package I from the Parliament. The package will put in place measures that are aimed at accelerating the pace of solar deployment in the country by easing permitting and reducing red tape. Rooftop solar and balcony solar systems will also get a boost.

The German solar energy association BSW-Solar has welcomed the Bundestag clearance. The Managing Director of BSW-Solar, Carsten Körnig said, "From small plug-in solar devices on balconies, to solar power plants on industrial halls, to megawatt solar parks – the solar power harvest can now continue to increase."
