  • GUVNL is looking for bidders for 500 MW grid-connected solar PV capacity under phase XXII
  • It is also offering a greenshoe option of 500 MW for solar PV projects without the storage component
  • NTPC REL has also unveiled land and power evacuation packages for 900 MW solar with an additional 300 MW greenshoe option in Andhra Pradesh

The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has launched a tender to auction 500 MW grid-connected solar PV capacity, with a greenshoe option of another 500 MW under phase XXII. In 2 separate tenders, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) will award land and power evacuation package for up to 1.2 GW solar capacity each in Kurnool and Anantapur districts in Andhra Pradesh (AP).

The GUVNL tender for 500 MW solar PV projects specifies that it does not include an energy storage component. Projects can be located anywhere in India with inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connectivity.

Eligible projects are considered facilities under construction, or not yet commissioned, and those already commissioned but without any long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) with any agency and selling power on short-term or merchant plant basis.

Provided there is availability of grid connection capacity, solar PV projects can also be stationed within an existing operational wind farm. The minimum capacity to bid for is 50 MW.

GUVNL says this capacity will enable it to meet the renewable power purchase obligation (RPO) and to meet the future energy requirements of the state discoms. It may decide to enter into 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with the winners.

GUVNL will be admitting bids till December 6, 2023 in offline mode for the tender launched on November 6, 2023.

NTPC REL tenders

A wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, NTPC REL is looking for interested bidders for land and power evacuation package for the development of 900 MW ISTS connected solar PV projects in AP's Kurnool region. It is also offering a greenshoe option of 300 MW.

It is also seeking companies for land and power evacuation package of 900 MW, extendable by another 300 MW under greenshoe option in Anantapur district of AP.

The broad of scope of work, for both these tenders, involves arrangement of government/private land with 5 acres/MW on freehold/leasehold basis near Kurnool ISTS substation, for a minimum period of 30 years. The winners will also need to arrange grid connectivity with the respective ISTS substation.

With NIT no. NRE-CS-5803-004(L)-9, the Kurnool tender was launched on November 7, 2023 with December 18, 2023 as the last date of bid submission.

The Anantapur tender with NIT No. NRE-CS-5802-004(L)-9, also launched on November 7, 2023, specifies December 20, 2023 as the last date of bid submission.
