  • PFC Consulting has invited bids for 1.25 GW solar PV projects, power from which will be procured by NTPC Limited
  • SJVN Limited is looking for developers for 1.5 GW wind-solar hybrid power projects
  • All these power plants can be located anywhere in the country and grid connected via the ISTS

Renewable energy project developers are sought by 2 Indian government agencies, PFC Consulting Limited and SJVN Limited for 1.75 GW cumulative capacity. All the projects need to be connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) and located anywhere in the country.

1.25 GW solar power tender

A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), PFC Consulting has invited bids from solar power developers to set up 1.25 GW PV projects, on behalf of NTPC Limited.

Power generated will be procured by NTPC for 25 years to replace thermal power through its existing power purchase agreements (PPA) with various discoms. The tender document carries a tentative, exhaustive list of power stations where this solar power will replace thermal power.

In case NTPC is not able to replace thermal power, solar power procured under the tender can be sold in the power exchange under the Scheme for Flexibility in Generation and Scheduling of Thermal/ Hydro Power Stations through bundling with Renewable Energy and Storage Power.

Projects need to be installed on build-own-operate (BOO) basis with a minimum project capacity of 300 MW. Interested bidders can bid for the entire 1.25 GW in multiples of 50 MW.

PFC issued the call on September 20, 2023, specifying the last date of online submission as October 12, 2023.

1.5 GW hybrid projects tender

SJVN has launched a request for selection (RFS) round to select hybrid power developers to set up 1.5 GW wind-solar hybrid power projects in India.

The hydropower utility will offtake power from these projects as an intermediary nodal agency, selling it to different buying entities in the country.

The minimum power capacity to bid for is 50 MW, while the maximum has been capped at 750 MW to be quoted in multiples of 10 MW.

SJVN issued the tender on September 18, 2023 with the last date of submission being November 2, 2023.
