Solar PV project developers are sought by India's state-owned hydropower utility NHPC Limited to build 3 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected capacity anywhere in India, while its peer SJVN Ltd wants to procure 1.5 GW of firm and renewable energy with energy storage system.

NHPC's request for selection (RFS) document was launched on June 19, 2023 with tender ID 2023_NHPC_756920_1. Pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 6, 2023, and bid submissions can be done between July 20, 2023 and August 3, 2023.

Its contemporary and another state-owned hydropower utility SJVN has also issued an RFS round to select renewable energy project developers for the supply of 1.5 GW firm and dispatchable power from ISTS connected renewable energy power projects.

These projects should be accompanied by energy storage systems and can be located anywhere in the country.

The tender with ID 2023_SJVNL_715915_1 was issued on June 20, 2023. It will admit bids between June 28, 2023 to July 20, 2023.

Recently, SJVN announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco) for the development of 5 GW renewable energy capacity in Maharashtra. Focus will be on exploring the feasibility of setting up hydro, pumped storage, wind, solar, hybrid and green hydrogen projects.

SJVN aims to increase its total installed capacity to 5 GW by 2023-24 and increase it to 25 GW by 2030 and 50 GW by 2040.
