Key Takeaways
  • SJVN has announced a new tender for 1.2 GW of hybrid wind and solar power capacity

  • It can be installed anywhere in India and connected to the grid with ISTS connectivity

  • SJVN will offtake power from the winning projects and sell it to other buying entities

State-owned public utility SJVN Limited of India has launched a competitive solicitation process to seek hybrid power developers (HPD) to install 1,200 MW wind-solar hybrid power projects.

All the projects need to be connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS).

As the intermediary nodal agency to procure power from the winning projects, SJVN will enter 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with the winners. The same will be sold to different buying entities in India.

Interested bidders can offer to build a minimum of 50 MW capacity, and expect to win up to a maximum of 400 MW, quoting this capacity in multiples of 10 MW. The rated power capacity of wind or solar shall be at least 33% of the total contracted capacity.

SJVN launched the request for selection (RFS) document on July 12, 2024 with the last date of submission being August 28, 2024. The RFS document is available on SJVN’s website

Recently, SJVN announced bagging a deal with Greenko Group to supply it clean energy from 4.5 GW of renewable energy projects for green ammonia production (see SJVN Bags 4.5 GW Renewable Energy Supply Deal).
