The State of Jharkhand in India is planning to host a 600 MW floating solar power plant at Chandil dam in Saraikela-Kharsawan district and is seeking consultants to prepare bathymetry survey and soil test report for the same.
Broad scope of work involves carrying out detailed hydrographic survey including geophysical and geotechnical survey for onshore and offshore of the sites identified, supplying and mobilizing specially designed survey vessel/boat with all necessary survey tools, equipment and instruments.
"The objective of the survey is to get the bed level contours and Geological & Geotechnical information along banks of the lake to plan and design suitable foundation system like pile, anchor etc. and on-shore geotechnical investigations," reads the tender by
Launched on April 26, 2023, the agency will admit proposals till May 22, 2023, according to the tender call by Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA).
According to the Jharkhand State Solar Policy 2022, Jharkhand aims for 4 GW cumulative target by 2027, comprising 3 GW utility scale, 720 MW distributed solar and 280 MW off-grid PV. A total of 900 MW floating solar capacity is part of the utility scale segment.
The state currently has 31 reservoirs reflecting a 'conservative potential of 1.16 GW floating solar projects. Additionally, the government also eyes the reservoirs of thermal power plants for these installations.
