Italy’s Invitalia has invited proposals to support the self-production of energy from renewable sources by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), allocating a budget of €178 million to this round.

Operating as the Italian government agency for inward investment and economic development in the country, Invitalia will provide financial support in the form of grants for the installation of solar PV or mini wind energy systems for immediate self-consumption, and storage systems for deferred self-consumption. Incentives per project will range from €30,000 to €1 million.

It will be financed from funds available under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The aim of the initiative is the full implementation of Investment 16 – Support for self-production of energy from renewable sources in SMEs envisaged in the context of Mission 7 REPowerEU of the PNRR, stated Invitalia.

This round is open to interested SMEs across Italy, barring those operating in the coal industry and those involved in agricultural production, as well as in the fishing and aquaculture domains.

Applications can be submitted to Invitalia between July 8, 2025 and September 30, 2025, and will be evaluated on a ranking basis.
