KAPP has launched RFPs for 2 IPP solar projects totaling 500 MW in the Shagayah region of Kuwait
Shortlisted bidders include major consortia and individual developers like ACWA, Masdar, EDF, and TotalEnergies
Several bidders overlap with the separate 1.1 GW Phase III Zone 1 tender already in progress
The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) has opened the request for proposals (RFP) round for Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy—Phase III, Zone 2 projects.
To be developed as an independent power producer (IPP) facility, it will sport a combined 500 MW PV capacity spread across 2 projects in the Shagayah region of Jahra Governorate. These will be developed under a public-private partnership model. Winners will bag a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Ministry of Electricity.
Among the shortlisted bidders are consortia involving ACWA Power, Jinko Power (HK) Company Limited, EDF Renouvelables, Masdar, and Swift Current Management Services, among others. TotalEnergies, Turkey’s Kalyon Enerji, and Linak Yatirim Enerji Uretim Isletme Hizmetleri are competing as individual applicants (see Kuwait Shortlists Bidders For 500 MW Solar PV Project).
Some of these names also feature in the shortlisted bidders list for the Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy—Phase III, Zone 1 package for 1.1 GW solar PV capacity. The qualifying companies have already submitted their proposals (see Kuwait’s KAPP Seeks Proposals For 1.1 GW Solar Project).
