Luxembourg’s 2nd Call For Solar For Businesses

• Luxembourg has launched the 2^nd call to offer state funding for solar energy systems for businesses
• A total of €20 million is available for this round to support installations ranging between 30 kW to 5 MW
• Projects must start operating within 18 months of the aid being granted, as one of the conditions of the grant

The Luxembourg Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Energy and Regional Planning are offering a budget of €20 million for companies to operate solar PV systems for self-consumption in the country's 2^nd funding round of this nature.

Funding will be available for projects in 4 lots of 30 kW to 200 kW, 200 kW to 500 kW, 500 kW to 5 MW, and 30 kW to 5 MW. Projects can be set up as ground mounted projects, integrated into the building facades, or set up as canopies.

A maximum of €745/kW will be available as state aid, depending on the size of the project. It will cover the cost of purchase and installation of the electrical equipment as PV modules, inverters, junction boxes, wiring, etc, and also storage whose capacity should not exceed 1 kWh/1 kW of the plant. Operating costs are not eligible to be covered.

According to tender terms, initial consumption of electricity generated by the plant must begin within 18 months of the aid being awarded.

The funding call was announced on July 17, 2023, with the last date to submit applications being October 31, 2023.    

In the previous round, the government awarded €16.1 million to 85 projects with a combined capacity of 46.34 MW to 75 winning companies (see Luxembourg Awards 85 Solar Projects).
