NHPC has launched a tender for the supply of renewable energy from hybrid projects
It entails 1.2 GW wind-solar hybrid projects with an additional 1.2 GW on offer under greenshoe option
Winning projects will secure 25-year PPAs with the NHPC for power supplied to be further sold to buying entities
India’s state-owned hydropower utility NHPC Limited is inviting bidders for hybrid power supply from 1.2 GW wind-solar projects with an additional 1.2 GW on offer under greenshoe option. This capacity may or may not be accompanied by energy storage systems (ESS).
Projects under this tender can be located anywhere in India, but must have interstate transmission system (ISTS) connectivity. Land to locate these facilities needs to be identified and arranged by the hybrid projects developer (HPD).
A single project needs to have 50 MW minimum size, and in multiples of 10 MW thereafter. A single bidders cannot exceed 600 MW offered capacity without greenshoe option, and 1.2 GW with greenshoe option. For projects in the North-Eastern states and special category states, the minimum quantum of contracted capacity to be offered can be 30 MW.
Winners will enter into 25-year power purchase agreement with the NHPC that will then sell the power supplied to state utilities/discoms or any other beneficiaries.
NHPC launched this tender on December 17, 2024. It will accept bids from interested companies till January 16, 2025. Details of this call are available on the Government of India’s e-procurement website with tender ID 2024_NHPC_835426_1.
This tender announcement follows NHPC’s September 2024 call for 1.2 GW solar and ESS projects with another 1.2 GW available under greenshoe option (see NHPC Seeking Bidders For 2.4 GW Solar Capacity, With Greenshoe Option).
