PGG plans three solar projects totaling more than 36 MW across Gierałtowice, Ruda Śląska, and Chełm Śląski in Poland
The projects are expected to produce nearly 38.8 GWh of electricity annually
It seeks partners to co-develop the facilities with experience of delivering at least two comparable PV projects
Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG), the leading coal miner from Poland, has invited experienced companies to discuss collaboration on three planned solar PV projects with a combined capacity of more than 36 MW.
The company has published an information prospectus on its Project Platform, outlining the proposed developments and the framework for cooperation. Headquartered in Katowice, PGG launched Project Platform in February 2025 as part of its efforts to collaborate with market and research institutions and identify partners for various projects.
PGG says the planned portfolio includes a 30 MW solar farm in Gierałtowice, a 3.2 MW project at the Ruda mine in Ruda Śląska, and 5 PV installations totaling 3.5 MW at the Piast-Ziemowit mine in Chełm Śląski.
Together, these projects are expected to generate approximately 38,750 MWh of electricity annually and avoid approximately 29,700 tons of CO₂ emissions each year, according to the prospectus.
“Chełm Śląski, Gierłatowice, and Ruda Śląska are potential locations for solar farms with a total capacity of over 36 MWp,” said Rafał Gąsior, Director of the Strategic Controlling Office.
Under the proposed partnership model, the selected partner would be responsible for designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the PV plants. PGG said it would assess the availability of its land for the projects and provide access to existing infrastructure where feasible. It is also open to exploring various business models and commercial arrangements during discussions with interested parties.
“The scope and final model of cooperation will be further defined during ongoing dialogue with entities that respond to the invitation,” said Łukasz Łata, Deputy Director of the Strategic Controlling Office.
The invitation, opened on July 16, 2026, is open to organizations that have completed at least two comparable PV projects or similar activities.
Applications will be accepted until September 15, 2026. Details of the call are available in the information prospectus on PGG’s website.
