  • SECI is soliciting bids for the supply of 1 GW solar modules under the DCR category
  • It requires modules to be manufactured locally, using domestically produced solar cells
  • Modules can either have monocrystalline or thin-film CdTe technology with 19.5% and 18.5% module efficiency

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched a tender seeking supply of 1 GW worth of domestically manufactured solar modules with locally produced solar cells citing domestic content requirement (DCR).

These need to come from manufacturers listed in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).

According to the tender terms, PV technology required is monocrystalline or thin-film cadmium telluride (CdTe) with a minimum of 19.5% and 18.5% module efficiency, respectively.

Entire capacity is to be delivered in 2 packages of 500 MW each and interested bidders can only bid for one or both the packages. No random packages will be accepted.

Scope of supply includes manufacturing, testing, packing and forwarding, transportation to the site and unloading the modules.

Project site could be anywhere in India, but the destination will be provided to the supplier at the time of dispatch.

The call with tender no. SECI/C&P/OP/11/008/2023-24 was launched on July 17, 2023. Last date to submit bids is August 17, 2023.

Recently, SECI also launched bids to seek consultants for 13 GW renewable energy capacity in Leh, and also for geo-technical study in South Andaman for renewable energy development (see India Wants Consultants For Solar Projects).
