SGEL to develop 951 MW AC solar under Maharashtra’s MSKVY 2.0 solarization scheme
Projects span 74 sites in Ahmednagar, Pune, and Solapur across 8 groups
Only ALMM-listed solar modules to be deployed; July 22, 2025 last date to submit bids
SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the renewable energy arm of Indian state-owned utility SJVN Limited, is seeking EPC contractors to set up 951 MW AC of solar PV projects in the state of Maharashtra.
This capacity needs to be installed in 74 projects under the state’s Mukhya Mantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MMSKVY) 2.0 Scheme. This scheme aims to promote feeder-level solarization, aiming for 30% by 2025 by implementing 7 GW of decentralized solar projects in a fast-track mode.
SGEL won 1.352 GW of solar PV capacity under a request for selection (RFS) round for MMSKVY 2.0 Scheme under component C of the Government of India’s PM-KUSUM Scheme. This needs to be installed across 102 locations and distributed as 154 MW in Pune, 304 MW in Nashik, 315 MW in Ahmednagar, and 579 MW in Solapur.
Of these projects, SGEL seeks EPC contractors to set up 951 MW AC of solar projects, divided into 74 projects in 8 groups. SGEL has entered into power purchase agreements (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of power from these projects.
SGEL specifies that groups 1 and 2 will comprise 107 MW and 111 MW in Ahmednagar; another 154 MW will come up under group 3 in Pune. The remaining capacity will be located in Solapur as 127 MW in group 4, 105 MW in group 5, 135 MW in group 6, 103 MW in group 7, and 109 MW in group 8.
Selected EPC contractors will be required to arrange land for the projects they win, except for the land that SGEL has already executed land lease agreements for. These will be established within 10 km of existing substations. The work also includes setting up a power evacuation system up to the interconnection point for the allocated capacity. Winners will also need to provide comprehensive O&M for 3 years post-commissioning.
Solar modules to be used for these projects must be sourced from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
SGEL launched the tender on July 1, 2025. It will accept bids till July 22, 2025.
In September 2024, MSEDCL secured approval from the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) to tender close to 6 GW of solar PV tenders to provide daytime power supply to agricultural loads under MSKVY 2.0 (see India Solar PV News Snippets: Waaree Energies’ INR 30 Billion IPO Gets SEBI Green Signal & More).
