Borzen is accepting funding requests from C&I battery storage projects in Slovenia
Under the revised rules, grants can be combined with other public funding, provided total support stays within state aid limits
Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2026, or until the €10 million budget is fully allocated
Slovenia's electricity market operator Borzen has launched a €10 million grant program to support commercial and industrial (C&I) sector battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
Financed through the country's Climate Fund, Borzen says the call aims to support businesses in improving energy efficiency and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Eligible applicants must own, co-own, or lease the property where the storage system will be installed and must meet the financial and regulatory requirements outlined in the call.
Borzen says that the funding will support the purchase and installation of new electricity storage systems, including hybrid inverters, associated electrical installations, and related construction and installation works.
Value Added Tax (VAT), used equipment, pilot systems, and prototype devices are not eligible for funding. However, investments whose eligible costs were incurred from October 1, 2025, until the closing of the call will also be eligible for funding.
The grant covers up to 45% of eligible investment costs, with a maximum support level of €225 per kWh of electricity storage capacity.
The grants will be funded through Slovenia's Climate Fund and awarded under the country's de minimis state aid scheme for electricity and thermal energy storage.
Borzen will accept applications submitted electronically from August 4, 2026, until October 31, 2026, or until the available funds are exhausted. Details are available on Borzen’s website.
Notably, Borzen had launched the €10 million grant program on June 4, 2026. On August 4, 2026, it published an amendment revising the program's financing restrictions. Under the amended rules, applicants can combine the grant with other public funding, provided the total support does not exceed the maximum state aid limits. If those limits are exceeded, the grant under the program will be reduced accordingly.
According to information published on Borzen's website, 225 applications have already been submitted.
