  • India's BHEL has launched a tender seeking the supply of over 1 million solar cells
  • The mono PERC cells will need to have 158.75mm wafer size and use 5 busbar technology
  • Each cell should have a wattage of over 5.54 and have an anti-reflection coating of PECVD silicon nitride

Indian government's engineering arm Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has invited bids to procure 1.046 million monocrystalline silicon PERC solar cells based on 158.75mm wafer size through its Solar Business Division.

Specifically, it requires cells with 5 busbar (BB), 200 ± 20 thickness, and wattage of over 5.54. The front of the cell should have silver oxide metallization and passivated emitter for the back. These should also be 100% PID resistant and have an anti-reflection coating of PECVD silicon nitride.

Bids will be accepted from original solar cells manufacturers with a minimum 1.5 million annual solar production capacity for mono PERC solar cells. Winner will be awarded through a reverse auction.

The tender was launched on October 17, 2022 and will accept bids till October 27, 2022. Further details will be available on BHEL's website.
