THDCIL Seeking Consultants For 1.3 GW Solar In India

• THDCIL has launched a consultancy tender on behalf of its JV with RRECL, TREDCO Rajasthan Limited 
• It entails preparing a DPR for a 1.29 GW solar power plant in Jaisalmer's Bodana village 
• Work involves conducting topographical survey, geotechnical studies, EIA and SIA, among others 

India's state-owned power sector enterprise THDC India Limited (THDCIL) is on the lookout for consultants to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for a 1,292 MW ground-mounted solar project in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer. 

Eligible applicants will be required to submit the DPR for the development of 1.292 GW (phase I) Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Solar Power Park as part of a 2 GW solar park in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer. It is planned to be located at Village Bodana in the administrative division of Nachana-I. 

The scope of work also includes conducting a topographical survey, geotechnical studies, soil testing, hydrology survey, environmental impact assessment (EIA), social impact assessment (SIA), and the like. 

The selected consultant will also provide information related to the total solar power capacity to be developed in MW AC terms, individual project size for the plots, estimated cost of solar power/kWh, availability of transmission capacity up to the destinations, and time schedule for execution of the park. 

The 1.29 GW solar tender was launched on February 13, 2024 with the last date of bid submission being February 20, 2024. Details of the tender with tender reference number THDC/RKSH/PROC/LTD/TREDCO/ 2023-24/ 50 are available on the government's e-procurement website. 

THDCIL has launched this call on behalf of its joint venture (JV) company with the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), TREDCO Rajasthan Limited. The JV has been set up to develop a 10 GW solar power park in phases for which it has identified land in various villages in Jaisalmer and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan. 

In July 2023, THDCIL had issued an expression of interest (EOI) for the empanelment of consultants for TREDCO Rajasthan Limited to acquire land for 2 GW solar capacity in Rajasthan (see India Wants Consultants For Solar Projects). 

Recently, THDCIL also issued a call for a consultant to prepare DPR and bathymetric survey for a 100 MW floating solar power plant in Karnataka. The project is proposed for the Kadra Dam Reservoir. 

THDCIL is under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) to develop this 100 MW floating PV plant and other projects.
