A subsidiary of Entergy Corporation, Entergy Arkansas is seeking proposals for 1 GW of solar and wind energy generation resources, with solar projects to be located within the US utility’s service territory.

It plans to procure these resources through a combination of 1 or more build-own-transfer agreements, self-build alternatives, and/or 1 or more power purchase agreements (PPA) with validity from May 2025 and December 2026.

This request for proposals (RFP) is aimed by the utility to secure emissions-free renewable energy capacity for cost-effective power supply and to diversify its supply sources.

“Entergy Arkansas has a commitment to providing our customers with low-cost, reliable energy as well as more renewable generation,” said Kurt Castleberry, the company’s Director of Resource Planning and Marketing Operations, “We continue to grow green energy within our diverse portfolio of power resources to better serve our existing and growing customer base and look forward to some exciting proposals.”

Details about the RFP will be available on the company’s website.

In May 2021, Entergy Mississippi said it will add 1 GW of renewable energy capacity including solar to its portfolio over the next 5 years to replace aging natural gas plants (see Entergy Mississippi Wants 1 GW RE Capacity).
