Renewable Energy With Network Security

DA/RE Developed A Solution That keeps The Grid Immune To The Fluctuations Caused By Increased Share Of Renewables

Renewable Energy With Network Security

For stable grid: DA/RE developed a solution that coordinates and accounts for redispatch measures between plant, distribution network, and transmission system operators to avoid fluctuations in the grid due to the growing share of renewable energies.(Source: DA/RE)

  • TransnetBW and the distribution system operator Netze BW developed cloud based IT platform called DA/RE that stands for DATE Exchange/Redispatch
  • DA/RE coordinates plant, Distribution system and transmission system operators for maximum grid stability
  • The system platform coordinates decentralized and flexible measures to stabilize the grid and address congestion.

DA/RE received the coveted The Smarter E award in the “Smart Renewable Energy” category in the context of its solutions for its network stabilization and security solution in 2022. The acronym DA/RE stands for DATE Exchange/REdispatch, and the very name sets the goal: The platform coordinates and accounts for redispatch measures between plant, distribution network, and transmission system operators. Simply put, keep the electricity grid stable and avoid bottlenecks if the growing share of renewable energies leads to fluctuations.

It is a Security Network Initiative and a cloud-based IT platform developed in collaboration with TransnetBW and the distribution system operator Netze BW. The digital platform coordinates decentralized and flexible measures to stabilize the grid and address congestion. Through the streamlining of the coordination process, all parties are able to meet a large amount of the new regulatory criteria of Redispatch 2.0.

The automated congestion forecasting will also improve stakeholder collaboration, resulting in a more secure and cost-effective management of the power grid. “Extremely smart,” “extremely logical,” and “highly applicable” were the remarks of the jury about the platform.
