  • UPNEDA has launched a tender for 275 MW solar power capacity to be set up in the state
  • It will be located in Kanpur Dehat and Jalaun districts of UP and built on BOO basis
  • Power generated will be bought by UPPCL on behalf of state discoms under 25-year PPA

The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited bids from solar power developers for a total of 275 MW grid connected solar power capacity in the state. Solar power projects of this total capacity will be developed in UP Solar Park located at Kanpur Dehat and Jalaun districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Tariffs have been capped at INR 3.25 ($0.045) per kWh with minimum project capacity to be commissioned under this RFS as 50 MW. Ceiling tariff under the tender is the same as it set for a 500 MW grid connected PV tender it launched in September 2019 (see 500 MW UPNEDA Solar Tender Gets INR 3.25/kWh Tariff Cap).

This capacity will be spread across village Gujrai (50 MW) in Kanpur Dehat; and villages Makrechha & Banghauli (45 MW), Gurhah (75 MW), Parasan (75 MW), and Tikar (30 MW) in Jalaun district. Entire capacity needs to come up on build-own-operate (BOO) basis for Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) as the procurer under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to be entered with the winners.

UPPCL will procure power from this capacity on behalf of discoms, namely Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd, Poorvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd, Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd, Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd, as per the tender details.

According to tender documents released by UPNEDA on its website, last date to submit bids is March 1, 2021.

Back in January 2018, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) had issued a request for selection (RFS) round for 275 MW grid connected solar power capacity for Uttar Pradesh Solar Park to power Varanasi and located in the districts of Jalaun, Allahabad, Mirzapur and Kanpur Dehat (see 275 MW PV Tender For Uttar Pradesh).
