Xinyi Solar, one of the well-known photovoltaic (PV) glass makers, exhibited its latest PV glasses for multiple applications at the SNEC 2024 exhibition. Speaking to TaiyangNews, the company said it specializes in PV glass making and has product offerings encompassing ultra-clear solar glass (raw and tempered), anti-reflective coating glass, and back glass. According to the company website, as of June 30, 2024, Xinyi Solar operates 6 major PV glass production units in China and Malaysia, with a total melting capacity of 29,000 tonnes/day.
Back Glass
Xinyi Solar displayed 1.6 mm ultrathin PV high-reflective coated rear glass with a screen-printed white grid and its counterpart with a black grid. The company noted that both these glasses use ultra-white patterned glass as raw material. Ultra-white glass’s high light transmittance and low absorption properties help in reflecting more light back to solar cells, yielding high solar cell efficiency by increasing the amount of captured sunlight, it explained.
The patterned surface of the rear glass also helps in reducing surface reflection losses. The displayed sample rear glasses drilled at specific points offer more than 75% reflectance over its glazed layer, added the company. The ultrathin back glass is recommended for use in 182 mm or 210 mm cell-based modules, preferably for 54 pieces of 182 mm cells-based modules.
Front glass
Alongside back glass, Xinyi displayed 2 different types of 2 mm thick front glasses.
Single-layer high-transparency AR-coated front glass
Xinyi’s 2 mm thick single-layer AR-coated front glass boasts more than 94.1% transparency, making it suitable for all types of 182 mm or 210 mm cell-based double-glass modules. Laying a single layer of anti-reflection coating (ARC) over high transparency ultra-white patterned glass with subsequent tempering, effectively reduces sunlight reflection over the glass surface to improve transparency, it added.
Double-layer high-transparency AR-coated front glass (HTAR)
The company also introduced its double-layer high-transparency AR-coated front glass (HTAR) with a 2 mm thickness. This front glass with double layers of ARC coating offers a slightly higher minimum light transparency of 94.3%. HTAR is also suitable for all types of 182 mm or 210 mm cell-based double-glass module, it shared.
