  • AGEL has entered a solar PPA with India’s SECI to supply 4.66 GW worth of electricity
  • It is part of the company’s 8 GW solar power win in SECI’s manufacturing linked tender
  • While it has now signed PPAs for 6 GW capacity, it aims to sign remaining PPAs for 2 GW capacity within next 3 months

Indian renewable energy company Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has signed what it terms the world’s ‘largest ever’ green power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 4.667 GW of solar power.

This PPA is part of 8 GW solar PV project and 2 GW manufacturing linked tender of SECI that AGEL won in June 2020, out of which it has now secured PPAs of around 6 GW (see World’s Largest Solar Award Goes To Adani). It now expects to sign PPAs for the remaining 2 GW capacity within the next 2 months to 3 months.

“We are pleased to have signed the world’s largest PPA with SECI,” said Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani. This agreement keeps us well on track to our commitment to become the world’s largest renewables player by 2030.”

AGEL aims to install 45 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030 and to realize this ambition, it will invest $20 billion, while developing 2 GW annual solar manufacturing capacity as part of its COP26 commitment (see Adani Targets 45 GW RE Capacity By 2030).
