Having met with an accident earlier in May 2019, Dr Shawn Qu, Founder, Chairman, President & CEO of Chinese solar power company Canadian Solar, has been announced to have taken a medical leave of absence. The management says it is not known how long Dr Qu's period of recuperation will take, even as he continues to make steady progress.
In order to manage the day-to-day affairs of the company, the board of directors have appointed Yan Zhuang, Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer and President of Modules and Ssytem Solutions Business (MSS), as the acting CEO for the time being.
Zhuang has been working with the Chinese company for over 13 years. He studied together with Qu in Canada and joined the company in 2006 as a director. In 2009, he resigned and re-joined the company as vice president of Global Sales and Marketing.
A statement from Dr Qu said he will continue to be involved in all major decisions affecting the company during his absence.
