  • JinkoSolar has reported 25.4% efficiency for its n-type TOPCon cell, breaking its own previous record of 24.25%
  • It used the company’s own HOT technology in combination with ultrafine line metallization, advanced diffusion and a series of material upgrades
  • Result has been independently confirmed by the Japan Electrical Safety and Environment Technology Laboratories

Chinese solar cell and module maker JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. has reported a ‘new world record’ for its high efficiency large-size N-type TOPCon solar cell that has reached a maximum power conversion efficiency of 25.4%. JinkoSolar surpassed its own previous best level performance of 24.5%.

The company cited Japan Electrical Safety and Environment Technology Laboratories (JET) as having independently confirmed the same.

Stating the process it deployed to achieve the efficiency level, the Chinese company explained it fabricated the monocrystalline silicon solar cell on a high quality CZ mono-Si substrate, and integrated within the cell process its self-developed HOT technologies. Also integrated were ultrafine line metallization, advanced diffusion, low parasitic absorption material and a series of material upgrades.

“We will continue to provide customers with the most LCOE-competitive products they need for large scale projects, and at the same time, this is a big milestone in our R&D capabilities to make clean energy affordable and sustainable for everyone,” said JinkoSolar’s CTO Dr. Hao Jin.

JinkoSolar said with this efficiency level achieved, it has set a new world record for the 4th time in a year. It is an improvement over 25.25% efficiency it reported in May 2021, which itself went up from 24.9% in January 2021 (see JinkoSolar: ‘Record’ 25.25% Efficiency For TOPCon Cell).

In August 2021, the company said it has started high volume production of N-type TOPCon technology with good yields (see China PV News Snippets: JinkoSolar, Beyondsun, Sinopec).
