China’s Arctech Solar has commissioned its 1st solar tracker factory in Brazil
Located in Bahia state, it will strengthen the company’s presence in Latin America
The company had previously said it expects to invest RMB 430 million in the Brazilian factory
Arctech Solar, the China-headquartered global solar PV tracker supplier, has formally inaugurated its maiden factory in Brazil with an annual production capacity of 3 GW. This is the group’s 6th manufacturing base and its 3rd overseas factory. The company now boasts an annual production capacity of more than 30 GW.
The new Brazilian factory is located in Camaçari in the Brazilian state of Bahia covering an area of over 10,000 m². Arctech has strategically established this factory in Brazil to cater to the growing demand for trackers in Latin America. It will bring the company closer to its customer base in the region, it added.
Arctech’s Chairman and President Cai Hao said, “The opening of this factory is an important engine for Arctech Solar to upgrade its globalization and localization development, and represents the company's determination to deepen its presence in the Latin American market.”
The Chinese tracker maker announced its Brazil fab plans in October 2023, when it expected to incur an investment of RMB 430 million ($58.8 million).
Apart from China, Arctech’s other international production base is located in India’s Gujarat with a 3 GW annual manufacturing capacity that also provides it easy access to the Western, Middle East and African markets (see Arctech Solar Sets Up Manufacturing Fab In India).
In May 2024, it signed a land lease agreement with Saudi Arabia’s MODON to establish its 2nd overseas factory with another 3 GW annual capacity in Jeddah, to cover the Middle Eastern market with plans to expand it to 10 GW.
Arctech was among the top 5 solar tracker suppliers for 2023 with a 9% global market share, according to Wood Mackenzie research (see Global Solar PV Tracker Shipments In 2023 Totaled 92 GW DC).
