Around 3 GW Saudi Arabia Solar Module Supply Contract For JinkoSolar

N-Type Tiger Neo Panels To Power ACWA Power’s Haden & Al Khushaybi Projects

  • JinkoSolar has secured a module supply contract for close to 3 GW capacity in Saudi Arabia

  • It will deliver these panels for ACWA Power’s 1.2 GW Haden and 1.8 GW Al-Khushaybi projects

  • These facilities are being built by China Energy Engineering Group Consortium and India’s L&T

China-headquartered global solar PV manufacturer JinkoSolar will supply 3 GW of its high-efficiency n-type TOPCon Tiger Neo series solar modules for ACWA Power’s Saudi PIF4 project, which the company says contributes to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

It will specifically supply its Tiger Neo series 78-cell PV modules for the 1.2 GW Haden Solar PV Project to be built by its compatriot China Energy Engineering Group Consortium.

For the 1.8 GW Al-Khushaybi Solar PV Project contracted by the Indian EPC L&T, JinkoSolar is supplying its Tiger Neo series 66-cell solar PV modules.

The manufacturer claims its n-type TOPCon modules have demonstrated excellent low degradation rates and low temperature-coefficients that can perform well under harsh conditions of high irradiation and high temperatures that are common in a country like Saudi Arabia.

Both partners announced one of their largest supply agreements ever a year back, in October 2023 for 3.8 GW n-type Tiger Neo modules to be deployed for the 1.58 GW Al KAHFAH and 2.257 GW AR RASS 2 projects in Saudi Arabia.

ACWA Power is also building the 2 GW Muwayh project in the country for which it recently contracted JinkoSolar’s compatriot Tongwei as the module supplier (see Tongwei Contracts GW-Scale Solar Module Order In Saudi Arabia).

JinkoSolar claims that in 2023, its market share in the Middle East exceeded 50%, with over 70% in Saudi Arabia, and exceeded 70% in Saudi Arabia alone. It wants to dig its heels deeper in this lucrative region, especially in Saudi Arabia as the country targets net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2060. To this end, it has partnered with Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Vision Industries to establish 10 GW of solar cells and module manufacturing capacity each in Saudi Arabia (see Solar Manufacturing Consortium In Saudi Arabia).
