NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has entered a power purchase agreement (PPA) and other agreements for 325 MW solar power capacity it is installing for Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh.
The other signatories to these agreements are the Indian Railways, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL).
Shajapur Solar Park is planned to have 450 MW solar power capacity coming up within Shajapur district for which RUMSL had invited bids in October 2018 (see Madhya Pradesh Launches 1.5 GW PV Tender).
NTPC said in an auction held on July 19, 2021, it secured rights to establish 105 MW capacity out of 325 MW for the winning tariff of INR 2.35 ($0.031) per kWh, and the remaining 220 MW for INR 2.33 ($0.031) per kWh at the park. It is now installing the capacity on site.
With this auctioned capacity, NTPC says it has secured more than 6 GW of renewables capacity through competitive biddings. The company has also been on the lookout solar module suppliers with whom it can enter strategic agreements to source 15 GW capacity (see Strategic Module Supply Tender In India).
