750 MW PV Awarded In Andhra Pradesh

Three companies won the 750 MW tender from SECI. Interestingly, ACME Solar was not among them; if it had offered the same level as for a recent tender of 2.44 INR ($0.035) it would be have been the winner.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has auctioned 750 MW solar power capacity in Kadapa Solar Park in Andhra Pradesh. Three projects of 250 MW capacity each have been awarded to SB Energy Seven Private Limited, Actis backed Sprng Soura Kiran Vidyut Private Limited and CDC Group plc's Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited.

The lowest winning tariff for this project was 2.70 INR ($0.039) per kWh offered by both SB Energy and Sprng. Ayana won the capacity for 2.71 INR ($0.039) per kWh.

These companies beat competition from ACME Solar and Fortum Solar. ACME Solar offered a tariff of 2.71 INR per kWh, which is quite high compared to the 2.44 INR ($0.035) per kWh it bid for a recent 600 MW win (see 2.44 INR PV Tariff In 2 GW SECI Auction), a repeat of the winning tariff it offered in May 2017 (see ACME Wins 200 MW At 2.44 INR Record).

SECI launched this tender in January 2018 under National Solar Mission (NSM) Phase-II, Batch-IV, Tranche-XV (see RFS For 950 MW PV In India).
