JA Solar announces results for n-type modules of 1-year energy yield test; Zhonghuan to build & supply 10 GW N-type cells and 10 GW advanced modules; Hengdian Group awarded TÜV SÜD certification for smart PV modules; Tongwei PV cells shipments exceed 100 GW; NEA releases national power industry statistics.
JA Solar n-Type module generates 3.9% more electricity: Solar PV panel manufacturer JA Solar, in association with TÜV NORD, announced the results of a 1-year energy yield test at the CPVT National Photovoltaic Experimental Base in Yinchuan. The aim of the test was to study and verify the power generation performance and operating temperature performance of different types of modules. In this case, it was a JA Solar n-type module that was put under test from February 2021 to 2022, and it was found that the power generation capacity of the n-Type module was 3.9% higher than that of the p-type PERC bifacial module. At the TaiyangNews' Conference JA Solar's Linda Guo in her presentation talked the company's n-type developments (see About Explorer of Future PV Technology – n-type DeepBlue 4.0X).
Zhonghuan invests in new energy PV project: China's Zhonghuan Holdings Group, the parent company of leading wafer maker Zhonghuan, said in an announcement that the company, along with Jiangsu Zhongqing Photovoltaic Technology Co Ltd, plan to construct cell and module production facilities and carry out the supply of 10 GW high-efficiency N-type cells and 10 GW advanced modules in Fengtai County. The construction is expected to take place in three phases:
The first and second phases will begin in 2022 and will be completed and put into operation by 2023. As the first phase is completed and put into operation, the annual revenue is expected to be about RMB 4 billion ($0.59 billion), and after the second phase, the annual income will rise to RMB 8 billion ($1.18 billion).
TÜV SÜD awards Hengdian Group: Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer from China, Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetics, via WeChat announced that it has been awarded with the world's first TÜV SÜD certification for smart photovoltaic modules. Hengdian's PV modules successfully went through TÜV SÜD's environmental stress tests, electric shock hazard tests, fire tests and mechanical stress tests, based on IEC 61730-1:2016, IEC 61730-2:2016 and IEC 62109-3:2020 standards. Last year, Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetics had announced a 2 GW solar module production project coming online (see China PV News Snippets)
Tongwei Solar PV cells global shipments exceed 100 GW: In a WeChat communication, silicon and cell manufacturer from China, Tongwei Solar said that as of the second quarter of 2022, its cumulative global shipments of photovoltaic cells have exceeded 100 GW. Last year, Tongwei's had announced an operating income at RMB 63.4 billion in its annual results released earlier this year (see China PV News Snippets).
China's NEA releases national power industry statistics: The national power industry statistics for the first half of 2022 has been released by China's National Energy Administration. Here are the details:
