LONGi Releases Monocrystalline Silicon Wafer Prices & More From JA Solar, Golden Photovoltaic, Canadian Solar

LONGi reduces the thickness of M6 (166mm) silicon wafer; JA Solar to invest in cell and module facilities; Golden Photovoltaic confirms ability to mass produce 120μm cells; Canadian Solar Q3/2022 performance report released.

LONGi releases monocrystalline silicon wafer prices: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi has released the latest price quotation for monocrystalline silicon wafers. Here are the details:

  • Compared with the last price release, an important change is that, the standard thickness of M6 (166mm) silicon wafer has been reduced from 160μm to 155μm, which is consistent with its M10 (182mm) silicon wafers (155μm)
  • In terms of price, the price of 182mm silicon wafer has been reduced by RMB 0.12/piece ($0.017/piece) to RMB 7.42/piece ($1.03/piece), a decrease of 1.59%
  • The price of 166mm silicon wafer has been lowered by RMB 0.09/piece ($0.013/piece) to RMB 6.24/piece ($0.87/piece), a decrease of 1.42%

JA Solar announces production expansion: Solar PV panel manufacturer JA Solar announced that it plans to expand production capacity at its  The company will now be investing about RMB 7.44 billion ($1.04 billion) in its Yangzhou 10 GW high-efficiency cell facility and in the Qujing Phase IV facility with an annual output of 5 GW modules. The Yangzhou facility will take about 12 months to complete, while the Qujing facility will take about 24 months to complete. Golden Photovoltaic confirms ability to mass produce 120μm cells: Double-glass BIPV module developer Golden Photovoltaic said that it now has the ability to mass produce 120μm thin cells. Currently the company has been mass-producing 130μm silicon wafers. The company said it completed trial production and is currently undergoing reliability verification. In October, Golden Photovoltaic had received a capital contribution of RMB 49 million (see China PV News Snippets)

Canadian Solar announces Q3/2022 performance report: Canada headquartered Chinese solar power company Canadian Solar announced its performance report and here is what it says:

  • The revenue saw a year-on-year increase of 57% and was at RMB 13.2 billion ($1.8 billion)
  • The gross profit margin was at 18.8%
  • The net profit saw a year-on-year increase of 123% and was at RMB 534 million ($74 million)
  • The module shipments touched 6 GW, a year-on-year increase of 62%
  • As of September 30, 2022, the total global energy storage project reserves of Canadian Solar exceeded 40 GWh. The total reserve of solar power plant projects is 25 GW
