Tongwei Announces Lower Solar Cells Prices For December & More From GCL-Tech, Drinda, Mingyang

Tongwei decreases solar cell prices; First phase of GCL-Tech module facility put into production; Drinda receives RMB 220 million in subsidies; Mingyang 5 GW HJT cell facility begins trial production.

Tongwei releases solar cells prices for December: The world's largest solar cell and silicon manufacturer from China, Tongwei Solar, released the latest prices for monocrystalline PERC cells over a WeChat communication. Here are the details:

  • The price of 210-size cells is now pegged at RMB 1.06 /W ($0.15/W), a decrease of about 20.3% and RMB 0.27 ($0.039) lower than the previous release (see China PV News Snippets)
  • The price of 182-size cell is now at RMB 1.07/W ($0.15/W), which is a decrease of about 19.6% and RMB 0.26 ($0.037) lower than the previous release
  • The company has stopped quoting for 166-size cells

GCL-Tech's Baotou silicon module facility starts production: Developer, producer, and seller of granular silicon GCL-Tech announced that the first phase of a 100,000-ton facility of its subsidiary, Inner Mongolia Xinyuan Silicon Materials Technology, in Baotou base has been officially put into production. The first phase consists of 20,000-ton granular silicon capacity. The Baotou base is the company's first complete production base for upstream materials and is also the third granular silicon R&D and manufacturing base after Xuzhou and Leshan. Once the facility is completed, the company's granular silicon production capacity will reach 260,000 tons.

Drinda receives RMB 220 million in subsidies for cell production: Manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells, Drinda, said in an announcement that its subsidiary, Jietai Technology, has received an equipment subsidy of RMB 220 million ($31.5 million) for the company's annual production of 18 GW of high-efficiency solar cells in Chuzhou. This subsidy was received from the Management Committee of Anhui Lai'an Chahe Economic Development Zone. With this, Jietai Technology has received a total of RMB 620 million ($88.8 million) in government subsidies. Mingyang 5 GW HJT cell facility begins trial production of some equipment: The Jiangsu Photovoltaic Industry Association announced that some equipment of wind turbine manufacturer and clean energy integrated solution provider Mingyang Smart Energy's 5GW heterojunction photovoltaic cell facility has entered the trial production stage. The total investment of this facility is about RMB 5 billion ($0.72 billion). Spread across 35,000 square meters, the planned production capacity of the first phase is 2.5 GW, with an investment of RMB 2.5 billion RMB. Once the facility is completed, annual sales are expected to exceed RMB 3 billion ($0.43 billion).
