GS-Solar to build 10 GW HJT production line in Zhoushan: In a recently held signing ceremony,Chinese solar technology solutions provider GS-Solar entered into an agreement with Zhoushan Municipal Government to build a 10 GW heterojunction (HJT) solar cell production facility, amounting to an investment of about RMB 8 billion ($1.22 billion). Speaking at the occasion, He Zhongwei, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, said that this is an advanced, high-tech and high-growth manufacturing project and assured their support. In recent years, Zhoushan's energy industry has continued to grow. With this agreement, GS-Solar will help the city in its clean energy journey with its technologically advanced solar energy equipment. In August 2020, Japanese electronics and HJT solar panel manufacturer Panasonic Corporation had decided to call it quits from its partnership with GS-Solar (see Panasonic Pulls Out Of Partnership with GS-Solar)
2nd phase of JA Solar 20 GW monocrystalline ingot and wafer production line begins: The second phase of a 20 GW crystallization and slicing production project at JA Solar's Qujing base has begun, according to the company. The Chinese vertically integrated solar module manufacturer has invested RMB 5.8 billion ($0.88 billion) into this phase of production. The project is spread across 700 acres and once the production is completed, the output value is expected to exceed RMB 12 billion ($1.82 billion). Last month, JA Solar had started 10 GW cell and module production in Yiwu (see JA Solar Starts 10 GW Cell & Module Production In Yiwu). JA Solar together with JinkoSolar and LONGi Solar will all present on the first day (Dec. 1, 14-17:00 CET) of the upcoming TaiyangNews High Efficiency Solar Conference with the focus on "PERC Modules with M10/182 mm Cells Towards Very High Efficiency Products."
