Trina to buy 1.2 bn 210-size silicon wafers from Zhonghuan: Chinese solar products manufacturer and solutions provider Trina Solar will be purchasing 1.2 billion pieces of 210-size monocrystalline silicon wafers from Tianjin Central International Silicon Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Zhonghuan Semiconductor (TZS). The purchase will be done between January to December 2021 and will cost Trina about RMB 6.552 billion ($1.2 billion).
In a massive push to back its 210mm PV technology production roadmap, Trina Solar just announced that it is partnering with polysilicon giant Tongwei. The 2 heavyweights have announced a new cooperation agreement to set up silicon, ingot/wafer and cell production capacities aimed at making the 210mm wafer/cell size industrial ecosystem 'stronger and bigger' (see Tongwei & Trina Solar Joint Venture For 210 Products).
JinkoPower to build 2 GW agricultural PV power plant: Clean energy provider JinkoPower will be building an agricultural photovoltaic power generation project at Fujin City in Heilongjiang Province. With an investment of RMB 10.5 billion ($1.6 billion) and a planned capacity of 2 GW, the project is expected to realize tax revenue of RMB 260 million ($39.57 million) on completion. During the construction phase, this project is expected to create about 6,000 jobs.
Chint & Wuchuan likely to partner for 200 MW storage project: The PV subsidiary of Chint Group, Chint Solar, and the People's Government of Wuchuan County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region signed an investment intent agreement on a 200 MW wind and solar energy storage and ecological governance energy demonstration project in Wuchuan. This is to ensure that people in Wuchuan have a safe, reliable, low-carbon and environmentally-friendly new energy system. Chint Solar's module company Chint Astronergy presented details about its products at the recent TaiyangNews Reliable Module Design Conference (see Better Technology=Higher Reliability For Astronergy).
TaiyangNews to host its first virtual conference on High Efficiency Solar Technologies: TaiyangNews is hosting its first virtual conference on High Efficiency Solar Technologies – from PERC, TOPCon to HJT and IBC. Leading solar module makers, JinkoSolar, JA Solar, LONGi, Risen Energy, Jolywood, SunPower will discuss and analyze how high efficiencies are key to further decrease cell and module cost. The event will be take place on 4 days from Dec 1-4, 2020, and each day will hold a 3-hour session on one of the 4 commercial silicon solar cell technologies available today (see Agenda & Free Registration).
