China's solar power generation up 35.4% YoY in November: The National Bureau of Statistics' latest data release shows that solar energy generation grew 35.4% YoY in November. The release also mentions that thermal power generation accelerated, hydropower growth rate declined, wind power reversed from a decline to growth, and nuclear power witnessed an increased decline.

Going into the details, the 35.4% YoY growth in solar power generation in November was 20.1 percentage points higher than in October. Thermal power saw a YoY growth of 6.3%, with a growth rate of 2.3 percentage points higher than in October. Hydropower recorded a YoY growth of 5.4%, with a growth rate 16.4 percentage points lower than October. Nuclear power witnessed a YoY decline of 2.4%, with a decline rate of 2.2 percentage points greater than October. Wind power showed a YoY growth of 26.6%, contrasting with a 13.1% decline in October.

Separately, the CPIA now pegs China's expansion at up to 180 GW AC of the global total, fueled by large wind and solar energy bases expected to come online by 2023-end (see China To Exit 2023 With Up To 180 GW AC Solar PV).

Autowell signs RMB 230 million sales contract: Automation equipment maker Autowell has announced that its subsidiary, Autowell Xurui Technology, has signed a contract with a leading photovoltaic enterprise. As per the contract, the company will supply smart transmission systems and cell terminal equipment to the unnamed client for a total value of approximately RMB 230 million ($32.31 million). The delivery is scheduled to take place in December 2023. Recently, Autowell showcased its innovation in intelligent module manufacturing at the 6th China International PV Industry Conference (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Akcome plans to expand production with 4.6 GW HJT cell facility: Akcome has announced that it intends to expand its production capacity with a 4.6 GW heterojunction (HJT) solar cell facility. The solar cell and module manufacturer currently has 3.2 GW of HJT cell capacity, 0.8 GW for PERC cells, and 10.4 GW for modules. The company has an outstanding order for approximately 2.95 GW of HJT modules, which is higher than its current in-house capacity for HJT cells. Akcome intends to build the 4.6 GW HJT cell production fab through its wholly-owned subsidiary in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. The company plans to invest RMB 2.1 billion ($295 million) in the facility and expects the main equipment for the 1st HJT cell production line to be in place by January 2024.

Hangxiao Steel Structure plans 5 GW HJT-perovskite tandem cell fab: A recent entrant to the PV world, Hangxiao Steel Structure Group has announced the signing of a contract to build a 5 GW HJT-perovskite tandem cell facility. The company plans to invest about RMB 2 billion ($281 million) in the facility that will be located in Xinyi, Xuzhou. The fab will consist of a 1 GW high-efficiency crystalline silicon thin-film HJT solar cell line, a 1 GW high-efficiency PV module line, and a 5 GW high-efficiency HJT-perovskite tandem solar cell line.
